The Mamanuca Group consists out of 13 pristine islands located just to the northwest of Nadi, mainland Viti Levu. The Mamanucas, mostly volcanic of origin but also coral islands, offer gorgeous corals and pristine white beaches. Although it is possible to fly into Mana and Malolo Lailai, most tourists use the ferry from Denarau Island in Nadi. The busy tourist town and third largest city Nadi is a hub for most visitors going to the Mamanuca Islands and other parts of Fiji. It is also where one of Fiji's crowdiest international airports is located. A top historic sight in Nadi includes the Shri Siva Subramaniya Swami temple, being the largest Hindu temple on the southern hemisphere. Denarau Island, just offshore Nadi, is known for its many upscale villas and luxury hotels. Nearby Nadi you can visit a popular and huge orchid garden named the Garden of the Sleeping Giant or hike your way around Koroyanitu National Park. North of Nadi you will find the Sabeto Mountain Range, east the Nausori Highlands and to the south the beautiful surroundings of Momi Bay.
All islands in the Mamanucas are known for its paradise settings, azure colored waters and white coral beaches. Other popular resorts are located on Beachcomber Island, Treasure Island, Tokoriki, Mana, Amunuca Island, Malolo Island, Matamanoa, Tavarua, Namotu, Navini, Bounty Island and South Sea Island. Vomo is a beautiful 90ha large island located up in the north. The Malolo Barrier Reef is protecting this island group from continuous blows of the Pacific. One of the most popular activities is a cruise that allows you to island hop your way around the Mamanuca Islands. Scenic helicopter trips, parasailing and catamaran sailing trips are among the other tours often booked besides water activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling. Don't forget to inform about the island you would like to stay since some are forbidden for children and others only for couples or honeymooners.
Scuba divers are treated at the Mamanucas with a very large diversity of diving, probably being the third most popular diving destination in Fiji. You can find sharks and many other large pelagic around the outside barrier reef. Easier dive sites include many turquoise colored lagoons, shallow bays and brilliant coral reefs. A dive site named the Supermarket is extremely popular as it resembles the crowds, colors and variety of a real life market. Other dive spots include Salamander shipwreck, Sherwood Forest and Plantation Pinnacles, all guaranteed for some wicked diving.
