The southern coastline of Viti Levu, roughly running from Nadi to Suva, is named the Coral Coast. This beautiful green coastline offers sand dunes, some of the best beaches in Fiji, pretty bays and the coral reef it is named after. It is an area of rolling hills, green fertile farmlands and one of the best places in Fiji for fresh fruits and vegetables. Sigatoka Valley is often called the salad bowl of Fiji.
Sights well worth stopping for on the Coral Coast are Momi Bay, just south of Nadi, which offers the stunning but remote beach Natadola. Likuri or Robinson Crusoe Island is a well established backpacker's island, great if you are interested in some nightlife and evening activity. Sigatoka is a world famous surfing spot but also popular as a day activity to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes. You can visit the Kula Eco Park or the picturesque villages of Korotogo for its excellent handicrafts. Nakabuta, slightly off the beaten track, is a popular pottery village located in the fertile Sigatoka Valley. Historic sites are scattered around the coast and include Tavuni Hill Fort, several cannons and other remains from WWII. More to the east you will find Yanuca Island and Pacific Harbor, both very popular getaway destinations for locals and tourists.
There are plenty of water activities along the coast with sailing, surfing, diving, snorkeling and swimming the most popular. Diving is best near Yanuca Island, Vatulele Island and Beqa Island. Pacific Harbor is the most popular town on Viti Levu's mainland where diving trips can be arranged. You can expect steep drop-offs, huge gorgonian sea fans, plenty of sharks and loads of other more common fish life.
